Our client, who is a technology company that builds predictive models using expansive data on local contexts to keep people, businesses and governments ahead of pressing challenges is looking to hire a Gender Communication Consultant.
Location: Remote – Periodic appearance in Abuja/Lagos office
Summary
Their new project; Project SAFE is an AI4COVID project that uses Technology tools to mitigate Gender-Based Violence and insecurity challenges faced by women in particular, during and post COVID-19 in Nigeria. Our client’s aim is to create safer communities for women. We are seeking the services of a communications consultant with ample experience in the gender and development sector.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of a Communications Consultant will include the development and execution of an efficient communication and engagement plan to foster good working relationships between Project SAFE and other organizations in the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Development space.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Develop and implement a communications strategy, plan, and advisory for efficient marketing and promotion in support of the implementation of Project SAFE.
- Oversee the production of communication materials in close cooperation with the Communications and Engagement officers, and other Project staff.
- Manage and develop strategic plans for digital communication channels: Website, social media, and newsletters.
- Ensure that the Project’s gender action plan is developed and maintained.
- Enhance the visibility of Project SAFE for efficient engagement with the media, project partners and other stakeholders.
- Ensure collaboration and smooth working relationships between Project SAFE and collaborating organizations in the GBV space.
QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIAL SKILLS
Academic Qualifications:
University degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in International relations, Gender studies, Communication, Journalism, or a similar discipline.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in communication, external relations and management of stakeholder relations preferably within a Non-Governmental Organization or another intergovernmental organization with particular focus on Gender.
- Solid understanding of Gender-Based Violence, Gender equality and Women’s rights issues.
- Strong familiarity with terms of engagement for collaboration between organizations in the GBV space.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills on technical and policy aspects of GBV projects. and programmes.
- Ability to synthesize information in a clear and well-structured manner.
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks effectively and in a timely manner; and
- Track record of working harmoniously in teams.
Language:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required and fluency in other Nigerian languages would be an asset.
